Webb25 sep. 2024 · I have the Uranus-C (IMX585) and never use dark frames. I tried using them recently and did an analytical test with no binning and with 2x2 binning. I found that the SharpCap Hot Pixel Removal feature did a better job (fewer hot pixels - none that I could see - and the background sky was darker and less noisy). While less efficient than using dark frames, because the thermal noise is not there, you can reuse the BPM and build it once a year. If you forgot or had no time to get proper darks, you can use this BPM to calibrate your images.
Webb29 sep. 2013 · I'm not sure, but I think the 290 sensor may suffer fewer hot pixels than the 224. Be happy if someone can confirm this or correct me. In addition, some EAA software packages have a hot pixel or defective pixel removal tool that can be used as an alternative to darks, but SharpCap does not have this feature.
